PROJECTION 2
WEEK 3-4
Experimenting with sequence, colour, type, layout:
The use of cyanotype situates the work within the tradition of alternative photographic processes, where exposure to light and the tactility of materials become metaphors for the passage and weight of emotional experience.
Experimenting with exposure time: under and over exposure

The outcomes of different exposure times came from the results of researches done by neuroscientists on individuals with depression. I translated the results of the data into units of time then further explore the material of time into visuals of cyanotype. The aim was to show the visual differences and impacts of those studies and translate the invisible struggles like overthinking or emotional latency into something tactile and visual.
Researches:

Visual response of the data from research:

Experimenting with layout and type:
In this experiment, the layout responds to the intensity of emotion. As emotions grow heavier, the typography gradually descends lower on the page visually mirroring the increasing emotional weight and time exposure.
This shift in placement reflects how emotional impact deepens over time, inviting the viewer to experience the often invisible weight of emotional labor.

Form = Research Outcome
When we talk about emotions the language often feels very vague or incomplete. This project began as an attempt to find a tangible way to represent those vague emotional experiences especially for those living with depression.
By backing the work with scientific research and psychological data, I was able to connect and represent the emotional states to a measurable unit of time. Translating that data into something organic and tactile like cyanotype printing allowed me to give form to what is usually invisible.
