PROJECTION 1
UNIT 3 : WEEK 3-4
Exploring materials and techniques: Materials and techniques such as fading, texture, form, spaces, orientation colour, light, and time became key components of this visual language. These elements were hinting at the complexity of mental health experiences, memories and childhood.
Reference: Wheel of emotions

Concept: A DICTIONARY OF EMOTIONS BY IMAGE MANIPULATION : TO TRANSLATE DIFFERENT EMOTIONS
Image manipulation plays a pivotal role in this work, acting as a visual translation of words and their layered meanings.
media driven enquiry: fading, form, texture, colour, distance and spaces, orientation, layering, overlays, photography, light & time- material in making that hints at the theme of emotions.
F

FINDINGS:
COLOUR AND INTENSITY SHITS FOCUS
DISTANCE AND LAYOUT/ORIENTATION CHANGES MEANING IN THE SAME IMAGE
Feedback:
- Image carrying meaning- maker vs reader of an image,
- recognising the role you play in the construction of these images- encouraging/prompting certain types of interpretation ( tests what kind of image manipulation prompts certain types of interpretation of emotions)
- Elements: diff factors/variable of images – articulate diff gestures you make ( when im using scale, when im using colour, etc)
- we construct an experience that will be finished by the interpretation of the reader eg tiny fonts will create a diff experience as of the big fonts
- decide the medium if it helps or hurts my image manipulation/image production- what does it mean for me to use procreate as a medium- how is procreate prompting my image decision
- context in which this can be meaningful for people to engage with? story? narration? advertisement? inducing certain kinds of interpretation- work on awareness
- think of audience engagement and engage while working- make the work public
referenec- Four Corners Books: The Familiars series , Maximage : The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2013 Samizdat , exercise in style - why does something physical make it more universal?
- physical allows to think following the form and form follows function- which makes it universal- the form here creates narrative- images interact with each other -are not perceived as individual.
- digital gives you more freedom but you dont interact with form by following its function, you control it- which makes it more personal- you create narratives here

Findings:
- colour to cover up, show variation
- faces to exagerate emotion
- layering to reveal hidden states
- fading texture to show weakness, fragile, vulnerability
- framing to make a statement or draw attention to fact
- scale for duality and intensity
- colour for depth
- overlapping images to support narrative- narratives that the image suggests
- solid colours and forms for restriction and hiding
